Argument Essay Topics - What Are They?

Argument Essay Topics - What Are They?An interesting but often underestimated aspect of the evaluation process is the argument essay topic. It is easy to see why it is often overlooked by students as they put forth a simple write-up about some issue in the paper that they have not seen tackled in depth elsewhere in the assignment.Yet when you think about it, the argument essay topics in question often play an important role in the evaluation process. After all, an argument essay that only deals with a single issue will be regarded as weak on the basis of its weakest elements being its focus. In contrast, if it addresses more than one issue, the student has already shown a broad and deep understanding of the subject matter and therefore it will be judged as being more competent in the writing process. One reason this is so is because it can help students to cover complex issues in the essay, especially if it goes into a deeper and more comprehensive account of the topic. This allows th em to come up with very compelling arguments based on a number of different angles, which are more likely to withstand the scrutiny of the teacher. The other reason why argument essay topics are so important to the evaluation process is because they allow the student to show their ability to connect the dots. Most students will likely not come up with an essay topic that includes all of the information that they need to address in their paper. They will simply rely on facts from one area or another that they can find online and then weave them together to form an integrated whole. However, if they are unable to connect the dots that are required in the proper order, this can severely limit their chances of being given a score that is high enough to qualify for the best in depth evaluation. For example, if the argument focuses entirely on a single issue that may have nothing to do with the other issues they are expected to cover, this might cause the student to fail the essay because t hey did not have the resources to connect the dots and present a coherent argument. However, if they could address all of the relevant issues from one angle, then they would have to create the right connection between the disparate areas. This is where the argument essay topic comes in. In fact, the topic is one of the primary determinants of whether or not the student is able to use it to create a coherent essay.Of course, this is not to say that students should completely neglect their classroom discussion of the topic. Rather, they should use this part of the assignment to familiarize themselves with the topic and to add more depth to it as they move through the composition process. So as you consider what an argument essay should contain, consider the importance of the topic in evaluating whether the student has earned the best in depth evaluation. By addressing the topic in its most basic form, the student has already proven the ability to follow directions and that they understa nd all of the relevant elements of the topic, which is an excellent indication of their ability to engage the reader.
